AppSizer is a control panel (cdev) that allows you to modify an application’s MultiFinder partition size as you launch it. To do this, you simply hold down the control key as you launch the application and AppSizer brings up a dialog that lets you specify the application’s partition size.
You use the control panel interface to set which key you want to be the “magic” key that brings up the AppSizer dialog. You also use the control panel interface to register your copy of AppSizer and to read the help messages that tell you more about AppSizer.
With MacOS 8 clicking on an application icon can bring up a contextual menu. Just select Open while continuing to hold down the control key to bring up the AppSizer dialog.
AppSizer is not free software, it is commercial software being distributed using the shareware system. This means that you can take AppSizer for a test spin, then decided if you want to keep it or not. If you don’t want to keep it, simply remove it from your system and pass it along to a friend. If you do want to keep AppSizer, you must register it by sending $19.95 to

Version 2.3 Notes:
Added the ability to save memory settings for applications that reside on read-only volumes such as CD-ROM, read-only network volumes, and others. AppSizer now saves the settings for these applications in a preferences file.
Version 2.21 Notes:
Peirce Software, Inc. changed address and phone numbers. The registration form and help was updated to reflect the new information.
Version 2.2 Notes:
AppSizer 2.2 adds printing support when you have QuickDraw GX installed on your Macintosh. This allows you to print out the registration form when QuickDraw GX is installed. It also brings back the Cancel button - using it will result in the Finder informing you that there was not enough memory to launch the application, this is normal and how cancel is implemented. You might also notice the new icon and updated graphics.
Version 2.1 Notes:
AppSizer 2.1 fixes a number of small bugs found in 2.0 and adds System 7 specific features such as Balloon Help and a new icon that uses “recommended” colors. It also uses color graphics on color Macintoshes.
